Because the bookmarklets operate in the context of the document, and
I don't think non-HTML documents have a javascript engine associated
with them for them to run in...

a document from the hyperlink, but once a document is opened it

when you open docs, but then
again, an XML document opened in IE is just DHTML, is it not?
