Hi Matthew, Good points, all of them. Needless to say, the extension will continue to be developed with feedback from users in mind.
We're not replacing the classic extension with the new one, even when they upgrade to FF2. As you pointed out, it would be bad to do so, so we didn't do it. :) Currently, only users downloading from addons.mozilla.org get the new extension; users installing from del.icio.us get a FF2 compatible version of the classic one. We worked with Mozilla on the add-on page, with the goal of clearly explaining the new extension and its features, and providing users with a link to the classic extension, so they could retain that functionality if they wanted. We also made sure to preserve the state of browser bookmarks pre-extension, so users uninstalling are reverted to their original bookmarks. Based on the feedback we've received, we can do more in terms of communication and we plan on doing so. Hopefully you will at least try it and also provide feedback on the actual operation of the extension, as we're keenly interested in making it more intuitive and useful for our users.
