David, Thanks for realizing that we've worked hard on this. This is the most ambitious client app we've ever done, and we want to keep improving it. And ultimately, it doesn't matter how hard we work if the extension isn't valuable, so everyone's feedback is realy great.
If you uninstall the extension and elect to retain your del.icio.us local copy, deleting bookmarks from the del.icio.us folder will not delete them on del.icio.us. Only while the extension is installed and active does the bidirectional sync occur. The bookmarks toolbar is still around, but as you may have noticed, it's different. You now can have tags in your bookmark toolbar, and they display 'Live Bookmark' style.
