I thought the video/demo was neat also. However, if you read the article associated with the video you'll notice that it is more of a prototype than anything else. Meaning that it will probably never be released in that form, which is just as well as the Toshiba design appears to use the Cell as a video processor. I'd like it to do more than that and I'd like the freedom to pursue exploring what that may be.

Of course, I could be wrong. Maybe Linux will be allowed access to the Cell so that it can process more than just video output. However, I'm not sure why Toshiba chose to halve the available SPEs to 4 when they could have had all 8 and the ninth as well as the current Cell design within the PS3 contains. Cost, maybe?

Perhaps. The article suggests that the cost of the prototype as is, would be quite high.

We'll all have to just wait and see. Still it is exciting that someone is considering bringing the Cell (in some form) into a laptop design.
