It has been pointed out how mass tagging (your #3) is possible: however
it's clearly not really *easy*, and struck me when I found out about it
as sort of befitting the rest of the app.  If #2 is implemented, then
presumably we could drag items to the tag collection which would
simplify one of the more frequent requests.

The major purpose of this response, however, is to highlight #2
especially as something that I would very much like to have.  #1 and #2
conflict in some ways, and I think I could live without #1 (as I am
doing now) if the tag collections were "first class".
