Thanks. I realize that Command-I is the shortcut for Italic but in
the main navigation window of Yojimbo, I don't think of Yojimbo as an
"application which supports styled text editing", I think of Yojimbo
as a Finder or file browser. I have a bunch of items in a list with
information about the items. In my mind, it's a Finder that happens
to have an editable Quick Look. I guess it's all a matter of
perspective. Of course, having Command-I do one thing in the list
view and something else in the edit view could be confusing. But
then again I'm not confused when I use Command-I in Finder then in
TextEdit. ;-)

Command-I is the keyboard shortcut for "Italic" in the Font Style
menu, as is customary for applications which support styled text
editing.
You can override/change the built-in keyboard shortcuts using the
Keyboard & Mouse pane in System Preferences.
