Hi guys! I am happy the final release is closer. This means two things. On
the hand all the users, which are a lot, waiting for the Yoper release will
thank us a lot. On the other hand, the Yoper team needs to get especially
involved in the advance stage. Thus, I'll put my little contribution by
finishing all the multimedia apps I have been working in since almost one
month ago and start testing the current and forcoming ISOs. I will also try
to give my point of view about things that need improvement so the are
suitable for a desktop user. I'll do more things if time let me do them, but
I can't promise anything else. Yet, I will do my best, really.
I think the effort is well worth.
Yoper rocks! ;-)
PS: I hope my partner does not break up after this... :-D

Hi,
here is a quick summary of the recent IRC Meeting about the upcoming
stable release. Happy to see people taking interest and giving input
and contribute !

The public beta shall be finished by 26th of Feb 2007 . So whatever we
want to do , we should ask ourself ' are we able to finish it by that
day'. After that we really need to focus on tidying up.
The following is a list of things that were offered / agreed to
achieve. I may have misunderstood things or just missed them. If so,
please don't be offended and just correct me. The order is
chronologic, means follows the flow of the discussion.
Petter:
- starts maintaining the xfce desktops look and feel.
- tobias supports to package additional packages upon request of
petter as well as modifying existing packages to meet the wishes of
the 'xfce desktop design team'
Questions that Petter wants to be publically discussed:
- A software selection with QT programs. Any suggestions?
- Adding scripts for automatic shortcut/menu modifications. Where
would YOU like the menu and shortcuts to be available?
- Graphical profile, colors etc....
- Do we actually have any finished configtools?
- How close to windows should we make keyboard shortcuts and stuff?
Tobias: improve yis to allow even more customization for creating your
own yoper cd
anyone,
- get more people involved for preparing the final release
- need testers and people willing to provide configurations for yoper
user desktop
Kernowyon:
- test gaming requirements - wine , winex , sdl work close together
with tobias to make sure everything is available and maybe even
installable during initial setup
( kernowyon : for my needs, I require sdl - thats what gamers need,
plus 3d acceleration - either with the nvidia/ati drivers in the
release or easily installable
Tobias: - improve xorg.conf generation for 3d effects
Anyone: - testing testing testing
Tobias: - get wine and winex done
anyone:
- test well known apps in wine and games in winex (

- sort nvidia driver concept and get all drivers into the repos (
7184, 9631 , 9742 )
musikolo&tobias:
- finish and merge multimedia efforts into rocketfuel
Anyone:
- changes to packages that would affect other packages are only
allowed till 3rd Feb
- it is still ok to get totally new packages into rocketfuel as long
as they do not affect other packages Requires / BuildRequires
- any new package has to go through the regular package lifecycle as in the
wiki
tobias:
- trying OOo 2.1 without Java
- improve installer according to To Do List
anyone:
- identify areas of improvements for yoper user experience ( using yoper )
- recommend the test iso now for anyone asking for a yoper installation
cd.;)
