the recent changes on master must have altered something related to PADSynth. A single test fails with differing waveform: "features/BasicPAD.test": Performed; detect Δ 7.1625dB(RMS) Which in fact is the only test using the PADSynth thus far. This is a huge difference, and obviously both waveforms are quite different, i.e. you can see and hear fluctuations at different points. Sonically, the change is rather a slightly different colour, which can be due to those changed fluctuations. I'd say, both versions sound "equivalent".
