Good idea! I've worked on several projects that had something similar as
a policy, and it always made releasing easier, and the changelogs more
complete.
It would also be helpful if you update the build number (Misc/ConfBuild.h). If
you're not sure the current number is correct, it's fine to take it up a couple
of steps - just so we don't get two the same. This is always reported in the
Console Window (or terminal if it's running headless) so if a user has a
problem we can zero in on it faster.
Should we not consider replacing this with a Git commit number instead?
This is more absolute, and can be automated without needing to change
any file specifically. It should be possible to make cmake insert this...
