I'm working on this again in a new branch 'presets' aiming to get it truly
unified (and correct) across the CLI and GUI. I've unearthed a number of errors
mostly in the CLI and not all directly concerned with this.
Because of the apparent lack of interest here (nobody complaining) I won't
bother with bugfix releases unless something really severe shows up, or there
is something new to promote, and then slip these in quietly.
