In a nutshell: this problem is not related to any of our recent GUI
reworks and tweaks. All symptoms rather point into a problem with the
FLTK- Wayland backend

That is both reassuring and frustrating at the same time!
Should we warn our users on the Yoshimi list?
Maybe also the Linux Audio Dev list?
I don't know what other software might be using the wayland/fltk
combination.
Considering the current situation, its probably a good idea to inform
our users on the Yoshimi list, but also tell them that there is a workaround,
namely to start yoshimi from a terminal with FLTK_BACKEND=x11
We could also add the information how to recognise if a session runs under
Wayland. Which is to look for either
XDG_SESSION_TYPE == "wayland"
or
when the Variable WAYLAND_DISPLAY is present in the environment.
You have probably seen the report from Lorenzo, which seems to indicate
that the problem does not happen with the KDE Plasma implementation
of Wayland. Btw, if I understand Lorenzo correct, the other issue
with the sliders he reported is also somehow connected to Wayland?
Personally I would be reluctant to post the problem directly to the Linux
Audio Dev list, before having contacted the FLTK developers somehow
and making them aware of the problem. Because I think it is very likely
the problem is rather something special, which is only triggered by using
more advanced features of FLTK. I have googled a bit and did not find
any report regarding FLTK 1.4 and Wayland and SEGFAULT from the last
months. The 1.4 series ist out for some time, and thus I'd expect
that any generic problem must have been discovered already, so
I'd rather guess that the cause is some special combination
of things we do in the Yoshimi UI.
