Well, I am studying Yoshimi setup for performance again, finally the rig is
stable enough to move forward :-)
That might be funny if it were not true :-)
Anyhow. My maximum Yoshimi-based patch, has three Yoshimi instances, two Parts
each, all on the same MIDI channel. Each Part is JACKed separately to an input
of a jack_mixer, which mixes them all down (this avoids signal overload and is
badly needed, a long-sought solution). I have turned all Yoshimi-internal
reverb and chorus off, the reverb in place is post-Yoshimi (calfjackhost). The
performance problem I'm studying, is CPU overload when too many notes are held
with the Sustain pedal. The overload happens on just one of the three Yoshimis,
the one which handles notes from 51 on up: its two PID numbers in htop go to
41% and xruns happen, in extremis there is silence, beeps, temporary halts, and
then things resume.
The odd thing is, even with all of the above, the two Parts in the one Yoshimi
which runs to overload, are limited to 20 notes polyphonic, as are the others.
Anyone have an idea as to what I should look at, think about changing...?
