For some time now Zyn has not been showing the PadSynth status. I wasn't overly
concerned about that until I tried to implement a new enhanced version that
identifies AddSynth and SubSynth as well. Some of the time it was working and
sometimes it wasn't. I eventually discovered that re-saving the entries that
failed made them work correctly.

A detailed look at the actual files revealed a malformed header. There was
a </INFORMATION> with no opening <INFORMATION> and the padsynth command was
missing as well. Thinking we'd made a mistake somewhere in the past causing
people to save these errors, I went through old Yoshi versions, but we were good
right back to V 0.036!

I then tried recent versions of Zyn, and there, I'm sad to say was the problem.
The upshot is that only instruments saved by Zyn before V 2.4.3, and *all*
files saved by Yoshi are correct.

I have a workaround for this, but in means Yoshi startup takes about twice as
long. However it will do a full check and if you resave the instrument (or
parameter set) the info will be stored correctly. As a bonus, the AddSynth and
SubSynth status is also stored in this header, so next time it is scanned it
will do so very quickly.

PadSynth is as before.
AddSynth has dark red text.
SubSynth has slightly small and italicised text.

Combinations of all of these are immediately obvious.

Anyway, I have a few questions for you all.

First can you run the latest master version, look at the instrument banks and
tell me if you like what you see?

If not how would you like it changed?

Would you like the main display to also show the current selected part in the
same way?

Also, would you like some form of warning about this error situation and/or an
attempt to fix it?

Do you find the increased startup time acceptable?
