I am using Entourage¹08 12.1.5 currently, but this has been an ongoing issue
for as long as I can remember. What I want is very simple. I would like my
mailbox to be arranged with older message threads at the top and newer ones
at the bottom. Within each message thread, I would like to have the
original message at the top, followed by replies, oldest to newest. What I
do not want is to waste space with the Group title line for each
conversation thread. I find the Show in Groups¹ option to be hideously
ugly and wasteful of space.
I cannot seem to get Entourage to behave this way. In order to get the sort
order I want, I have to show the Group line. If I get it sorted correctly
and then turn off Show in Groups¹ I lose the sort order. I can¹t seem to
create a custom sort that will work this way. Am I missing something
simple, or is Entourage not able to do this?
Just to be clear, here is what I would like my inbox to look like:
Thread 1 12/1
re:thread 1 12/2
re: thread 1 12/3
Thread 2 12/2
re:thread 2 12/3
New thread 12/5
unread 12/6
It is essentially this setting, except that I want to suppress the Group
title bar:
> Group by Subject, sorted by received, oldest on top
> Sort within group by received, oldest on top
