Eudora and Thunderbird (and other mail apps) use a similar 'threading' logic, but don't have the separate thread header bar above a thread that you get in Entourage - they use the details of the first message in the thread as a thread header.

This is certainly less wasteful of space, but can be confusing in some cases. If you want to see Entourage do things a different way, please send feedback to Microsoft using the 'send feedback' link under the Help menu in Entourage.

I cannot seem to get Entourage to behave this way. In order to get the sort order I want, I have to show the Group line. If I get it sorted correctly and then turn off ‘Show in Groups’ I lose the sort order. I can’t seem to create a custom sort that will work this way. Am I missing something
simple, or is Entourage not able to do this?

You'll have to put up with the Group title bar. Sorry!

Were you able to do this in another email application?

Eudora works in this way, and it is very clean. I would have to go and
check, but I think Thunderbird works this way as well.

Frankly, I'm surprised all email programs don't do this. Entourage and Outlook are the only email programs I know that use the hideous Groups title
bar.
