OK, if you're using iTunes and Entourage 2004 then I believe you're using Apple's Sync Services. (If you have subscribed to Apple's MobileMe service then you're probably using that but we'll need to know that.) Apple's Sync Services works by allowing multiple applications like Entourage, Mail, Address Book and others to sync information with each other. It works by using what's called the "truth" database. The "truth" is the go-between for everything. Entourage's Address Book will sync with the "truth" and then iTunes will pull the information from there and put that onto your iPhone. Changes that you make on your iPhone will be put into the "truth" and then Entourage will pull those changes into its Address Book. More about how all that works here: "Why does syncing play Gossip with my contacts?" <http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2007/07/why_does_the_syncing_play_goss.html> I suspect your Sync Services are out of whack. Resetting them will most likely help put things back. Do this: 1. Under the Entourage menu --> Preferences... --> General Preferences --> Sync Services area uncheck "Synchronize contacts with Address Book and .Mac". 2. We want Entourage to be authoritative the next time we sync. That means you need to make sure everything in your Entourage Address Book is correct and up-to-date. If you've made changes on your iPhone then manually enter those changes in your Entourage Address Book. 3. In the Finder open iSync.app found in your Applications folder. We only want one thing from here: to reset your "truth" database. 4. Under iSync menu --> Preferences... --> Advanced click the "Reset Sync History..." button. Go ahead and reset your history in the next window. 5. This next step isn't important but it does give you the ability to see things happen. Open Apple's Address Book. It may or may not have information in it. We don't care. 6. Back in Entourage return to Entourage menu --> Preferences... --> General Preferences --> Sync Services area select "Synchronize contacts with Address Book and .Mac" and click the OK button. You'll be given three options for syncing. We want Entourage to be authoritative so you'll select the last option "Delete information from Macintosh Address Book, iCal and .Mac". 7. Switch to Apple's Address Book and you should see it update and match what you have in Entourage. This may take a few minutes. This step verifies that the "truth" is up-to-date. 8. Now, go to iTunes and sync your iPhone. If you're given the option I suggest overwriting your Contacts in iPhone. After this is all done I make one more suggestion. Syncing is not perfect and can be prone to problems if you change information in multiple places. Update information in just one place (I suggest Entourage) and allow everything to sync from there. You'll avoid a lot of problems this way.
