G'Day All,
I've got a bit of a mystery on my hands with a potential corruption. I say
'potential' because if I verify the database, it says that everything is OK.
However, when starting Entourage, I get a message "Entourage cannot access your
data. To attempt to fix the problem, rebuild your database".
Well, several rebuilds, disk utility checks, etc. later, it's still the same
thing: disk/database OK, Entourage claims it's not.
Some other odd things: I attempted to retrieve a back-up from 4 days ago, the
only one that I have that I'm sure was made without Entourage or the database
daemon running. It checked out OK, but gave me the same error. However, after
rebooting I *was*, once, able to get Entourage to start. The first thing I did
was export everything to a .rge file, so there may be hope.
I do have backups from a few weeks ago, when I first got the time capsule, but
they were made when the daemon and Entourage were running.
Does anyone have any clues as to what might be going on here? Why does the
database utility tell me everything OK, but Entourage not start? Is it worth
trying with an older backup? What about importing the .rge file into a new
identity?
Cheers,
- SteveN
