I don't think a font or bad install would cause database corruption. > On a side note I am still unable to locate the preference... > > /Users/UserName/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.DatabaseUtility.plist I can't find it either. This must be one of the changes that has not been verified. I checked around and found this file we can try deleting: (note this is the root Library) "/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.entourage.database_daemon.plist" Let's look at all the options that could cause this. 1) corrupt database 2) corrupt preferences or some other conflict in User's folder 3) bad RAM can cause weird problems 4) hardware problems I like to do the easiest things first.... Do you have an external drive that has a clone of your drive so you could boot from it to eliminate your HD? Did you apply the Apple combo updater? I would normally not advise doing an "Archive & Install" until you go through all the following, but in your case, you might just start with this if the combo does not help. It's not that bad. The last time I had to do this I only had to install my Microsoft keyboard software again. It's a lot easier than working several days in a new User. You've done the new Identity bit. Next step would be to eliminate your User's folder. Drag your Main Identity to Shared. Create a new Identity in System Preferences and open Entourage in the new Identity. This will create a new Microsoft User Data folder. Quit Entourage. Drag (it actually copies) your main Identity to the new Microsoft User Data folder. It will overwrite the new one unless you rename one. You might consider dragging over your entire Documents folder so you can work in the new User. If not, then fast user switching will make it somewhat easier to test. If it works in the new User, then it is in your User's folder. If you have problems in the new User, you could try a new blank Identity and see if that works. I would only import my contacts and no messages. You can Option-drag over rules, sigs and Mailing List Manager files. If this fails then it's at the base level of the OS. This is when I would normally advise an "Archive & Install". You've got a difficult problem! Sorry about that. Make frequent backups so if things go belly up you will have something that opens. -- Diane YouTalk mailing list List address: [email protected] List information: http://entourage.mvps.org/support_options/list.html List moderator: [email protected]
