I think Microsoft did away with the update log showing what was
updated and when it was updated with Office 2008. I like having
a log so I amended my OS X log file to document (for my own use)
that I reinstalled OS X 10.5.7 as well as Office 2008 on June 26,
2009.

Too bad YouTalk will not display screen shots but the two entries
now show up under System Preferences/Software Update/Installed
Updates. The entries show up as:

 Friday6/26/09 9:00 AM Reinstalled MacOSXUpdCombo 10.5.7
 Friday6/26/09 5:30 PM Reinstalled Office 2008 12.1.9

The text file I edited is located at

Macintosh HD/Library/Logs/Software Update.log

and the following text was added:

 2009-06-26 09:00:00 -0500: Installed "Reinstalled MacOSXUpdCombo" (10.5.7)
 2009-06-26 17:30:00 -0500: Installed "Reinstalled Office 2008" (12.1.9)

I like to keep a record of what I did and this works for me. It was
a big deal to reinstall both.
