First, I am not having any trouble with Entourage 12.2.3; however, I have a defective version of the Office 2008 Microsoft Database Utility date September 7, 2009. By defective it mean it runs but cannot finish anything it starts.
For example, this morning I booted Entourage with the option key depressed and ask the Database Utility to Compact the database. It did its thing then hung on the last step with the spinning disc. The only way I could escape the freeze was to use the OS X Force Quit that said the Microsoft Database Utility was NOT RESPONDING. It seems to have a hard time writing the file to finish. Entourage still works using the Database in my Office 2008 Identities folder. There is a newly created compacted Database (Rebuild) that does nothing but take up hard drive space. I would like to install fresh version or trash it .plist associated with the Database Utility. Something is not correct and I want to fix it before it is really needed. I tied moving my primary Database from the folder hoping Entourage would start from the Database (Rebuild) but that did not work. Entourage found the Database on my desktop and ignored the Database (Rebuild). Any help on what I need to do update and/or replace the Office 2008 Microsoft Database Utility will be appreciated. It us useless until it can finish what it starts.
