I have been told by several people to not back up the data base via
time machine. And to just designate it as not to be backed up.
Nightly I just manuall back it up on a differnt drive. I have a folder
for back up, manually (after shutting it all down) take identies and
put a copy in the folder. In the main folder I list all seven days and
the the idenities folder goes daily in a folder with a date.
Diane has a URL on how to automate a back up but I don't seem to be
able to grasp it so just do it manually

Had anyone been able to restore the Entourage Database using
the OS X Time Machine?
I have learned the hard way the pickiest file on my hard drive
is the Entourage Database and I am reluctant to even try restoring
it with the Time Machine for fear that Entourage may not
recognized the restored file.
The reason for asking I used the Microsoft Database Utility to
compact the Database but it did not finish. It created a
compacted database but Entourage still uses the non-compacted
version. I would like to use the compacted version but need to
do something with the Database. I tried moving it out of
the Office 2008 Identities folder and that did not work.
If I zip it, then trash the file will Entourage be able to read
the unzipped version?
