Thanks Diane,

What's the difference between deleting the font and using 'Resolve Duplicate' 
to fix the problem? I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the instructions 
on that page. It seems to say delete the fonts from the 
/Library/Fonts/Microsoft directory, but it looks like FontBook would delete all 
the fonts if I were to delete them from there.

Be careful that you check all applications to be sure they are Snow Leopard
ready. Migration Assistant can bring over a lot of old baggage.
