Hi Everyone, I am looking at some licensing scenarios for clients (we're MS Certified Partners) and I cannot find an answer to this question...
Under VL, Office 2007 is considered 'platform independent' and therefore can be installed on both MAC OSX and Windows simultaneously on the same device (and assumedly one portable/laptop). See http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/d/4/3d42bdc2-6725-4b29-b75a-a5b04179958b/Licensing_Windows_and_Office_with_Mac_VL_Brief_Oct08.docx My question is, does this apply to Office 2008 Mac Business Edition Retail or Office 2007 Retail? For instance, if a client purchases Office for Mac 2008 Business Edition, are they then licensed to use this license (as Office 2007 Standard/SBE under equivalency rules) under Windows through Boot Camp or VMWare Fusion (assuming a valid OS Licence)? I have not found any information to the contrary, I even looked at the EULA for Office 2008 Standard (there wasn't one for Business Edition, even MS can't keep up with their own EULAs!) here: http://download.microsoft.com/documents/useterms/Office%20for%20Mac%20Standard_2008_English_18400ddc-1ac0-4782-a486-33b8e212b64d.pdf This would mean a client can purchase one boxed copy of Office and use it in both environments obviating the need to purchase a copy for Mac and a copy for Windows (which to my mind seems only fair). Look forward to your response!
