that shows 280G of the 300G, which probably really means I can see all the disc.
But it wont let me format it. I think I need a newer copy of windows with at
least service pack 1.

In XP
go to Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management. Click on
disc management on the left. Any unused part of the hard drive should be shown
on the right. You can right click on it to create a usable partition and
format.

Does anyone know how to see more
than 130G when installing a new hard drive?
I was told that you format each
section separately. But once I load windows on and even prior to loading, 130
is all I see.
