Is this a distant or noisy network?

Every time you see one of these messages, it means that the device tried 
to transmit a frame (in this case an authentication request) several 
times, each time failed (i.e. no acknowledgement from other end), and 
gave up.

Presumably it retried once more and succeeded...

Also had some problems with sending the association request...

But really had a lot of trouble transmitting a DHCP request.
