Hi Ed,
If I may share that, Chan considers all words, opinions and logic
illusory and empty in nature.
Attachments to forms, especially to the form of words, logic and
perspectives are to be eliminated from our mind. Only then will we be
able to witness "true dharma" through our heart.
Ever since Zen was hijacked by Japanese emperor, and endorsed WWII, its
bearing karma has turned many of its lineages into "withered
formalities". In other words, some Zen became a practice filled
ceremony and mental rationale, without any connection to the universal
life force.
This is also true to some of the lineages of Chan, turning into a
lifeless philosophy or a study, without any ability to transcend our
delusions, surpass our karmic hindrance to our body, mind and spirit.

Hello Steve and All,
This is an extremely informative and brilliantly insightful article,
and should be studied and discussed sentence by sentence and paragraph
by paragraph to help eradicate any illusions and delusions we might
hold concerning Zen teachings, Zen practice and Zen teachers.
Should anyone choose a sentence, paragraph or section of the article
that puzzles them, I would look forward to
hearing members' viewpoints, and contributing my own two bits to the
discussion.
Steve, thank you for bringing this article to our notice.
