> Hi Anthony. I agree that a Buddha cannot harm others. I have no
opinion about correcting other's karma. So my agreement was in
regards to the original question. I have talked to many Buddhists
from many different denominations over the years, and I accept that
there are many different opinions on these matters. Take, for
example the Tibetan practice of Tonglen. Even if it is not literally
effective (It may be, I really don't know), it is still probably a
good way to train ourselves to put others first in our thinking.
And as Gotama said, mind is foremost. I personally don't worry
much about doctrinal differences of opinion and try to apply
myself, as best I can, to the Eightfold Path. I do agree with JM
that what is important is practice. You probably thought that I
was being evasive when I did not directly answer your questions,
but merely suggested possibilities. It's just that I have seen
entirely too much carping over such things. IMO, what is really
important is intention. That is why we practice The 4 Immeasurables
and suchlike. And I have no use at all anymore for people who value
their supposed profound insight into Emptiness over simple kindness.
