There is a mixture of students from all over the world which of course includes 
Vietnamese.  So the Ven gives away the teachings according to the buddhist 
background or zen those students may have to make himself dharma better 
understood and put into practice.  During the long retreat the names of the 
Buddha were reciting in the evening after sitting down.  On my own I don't 
usually repeat the names of the Buddha as I'm not very much familiar with this 
kind of practice.

  Yes, no rush. Spring comes and the grass grows by itself. I happen
to like Vietnamese Thien (Zen), as it is actually what I do. In
Vietnam they combine Zen with Pureland practice. TNH just emphasizes
Zen for his Western students, but in Vietnam they couple that with
Buddhanusmriti. I refer you to the foot-note on page 76 of The Heart
Of The Buddha's Teaching. I said that this is what I do, but really
I am not doing it. Who is reciting the Buddha-Name?
