ED, My commets are embedded below:
[Bill!] I would have thought ED would have jumped on this one and would
have
> already listed 48 links to the definitions.
[ED] I have done so now in a post to JMJM, and there are only three
> definitions on the Internet for 'insufferable', according to Google.
[Bill!] I'm not a Google-guy. I'm a Bing-guy, but I imagine if I'd
have Binged 'insufferable' I would have gotten pretty much the same
results. When I want the definition of a word I usually go directly to
Merriam-Webster Online; and for more complex concepts I go to Wikipedia.
[ED] And I can assure you that my motivation was good, lest you harbor
any
> doubts about it. ;-)
[Bill] I have no thoughts about your motives when you post links. I'd
much rather see YOUR opinions then just links pointing to OTHERS'
opinions.
[Bill!] 'Insufferable' means 'unendurable' or 'intolerable'. In the way
I used
> it, it means 'excessive' or 'unrelenting'. I'm basically saying that
he
> is trying to use his reasoning or thinking too much.
[ED] You will agree with me that the Google answer is effortless, and
more
> complete than yours.
[Bill!] I agree that Googling is virtually effortless -and the results
as with most things are directely proportional to the effort put in.
How can anyone else define the terms I use better than me?
[Bill!] He is trying to 'understand' zen/Chan, to categorize and
define
> everything.
[ED] Surely, Bill, you do not lay claims to the power of mind-reading!
;-)
[Bill!] I am not able to read minds, but I do have very keen powers of
observation. Again, I'd much rather read posts from you that describe
your EXPERIENCE with zen, and now what you think you KNOW or links to
descriptions of what OTHERS have experienced or think they know.
[Bill!] Also, if you haven't already noticed, I sometimes us hyperboles
> (exaggerated speech) to describe things. Don't ever take me too
> seriously.
[ED] Good! Then you will recognize it when I do the same.
[Bill!] If I every do see a post from you that I think you do not want
us to take seriously, I'd have a better chance recognizing it if you
attach a 'smiley' - like this ;>). A post like that from you would be
be such a sharp departure from your usual posts that I might just miss
it! ;>)
...Bill!
