MEL: It more than likely depends on the state of mind of the enquirer, or
seeker. The death of anything can actually be a return to Buddha itself..but
some call it Tao..

or save, a man.

MEL: It has been said in the past by many that this is the Bodhisattva's
responsibility..to save others. Me personally? With a clear head, yes. Most
people just cannot be helped, or saved. My hand that fed and saved had been
bitten once too many times in the past

If you'd have said, "...seeing how life is lived moment to moment.", then I'd
say this is the perfect way to express your zen (or for zen to express itself
thru you).
------------------------------------------
MEL: Yes, I like that as well...but I'm personally rather wary of picking and
choosing with words when it comes to my own Zen beliefs. But, that's just me.
Or, perhaps I just happen to liken myself to a tamer version of John Wayne(*big
laughter*)

But i think I know what you mean.

IMO, koans and the like are merely upaya for those already on the 'path'.
------------------------------------------
MEL: What's upaya please? And which path? Do you mean, monk novices?
-------------------------------------------------------
What you said not only encompasses upaya, but is living zen for all to see and
is infinitely more beneficial

than giving snapppy answers to koans (but they are such good fun!).

MEL: I took another look at your koan, and tested my reaction to it. Yes, it
was fun I guess(*smiles*)

ps [react has its duality in 'not react']

MEL: I think I'm about to get pedantic myself on this one..*sighs/laughter*...
Perhaps in 'not react' as such, doing so through the BigMind would be much
better practise or daily living, no? That thing called pride...it can be a
cruel master/mistress indeed..
Buddha be praised
