Hi Mel:

I have a similar experience as yourself with the TNH flock.  Everytime I say
something that doesn't go in their wave, I am put on the side.    But this
doesn't bother me very much.  I have previous experience in different spiritual
institutions and I know well out of personal experience that as soon as one
express or do something that is not writing within their beliefs one gets
admonishment in what way or another.  This is one ot the reasons I like so much
this forum as it's the only place we can express oneselves with freedom free
from punishment!.

Many Buddhists I've met from SE-Asia and SriLanka/Ceylon sit up and take notice
when I mention that I'm Mahayana, and that I hold Zen beliefs. Their
reaction(which is not exactly positive most of the time) never ceases to amuse
me. I think that the Chinese also get wary when I tell them that I'm somewhat
Japanese/Samurai-influenced in my beliefs

Steve,

I agree with your reply to my post below.

I will also extend it to say that most (or at least a large number of)
Buddhists do not consider Zen Buddhism as a ligitimate expression of Buddhism
and consider it cult. I say this after talking with numerous Buddhists
(including Buddhist clergy) in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, and Vietnam.
