"It" is not a matter of time, has no beginning or end. Is not found in action or inaction. Has no qualities or conditions to "prepare for". Nothing is realized that was not already so, and reactions to the overwhelming ordinariness of the grand obviousness can't be predicted.

Humility will enable you to cope.

Cope with aspects of your humanity you find troubling, perhaps.

Self control will garner your will so that you can acheive it.

In this battle for self, who wins?

Understanding and control of your mind will enable you to stabilize yourself, to regain your balance after you have acheived it and will protect you from insanity.

Protection of what? Self? Clinging to sanity is fear. Whether you go insane or not, awaken or not, is not a matter of willpower.

This is essential;

No essence.

You must need it.

"Is that so?"

Your need for enlightenment must consume all other needs. This is the only truly essential thing to acheiving a powerfull spiritual insight or Satori.

People acting in such a way may stumble upon truth, as nothing can prevent awakening. After investing so fully, it is natural for mind to assume it did something, to tell the story that way. Believing this more than a story, is not Satori.

Humility, self control, self awareness these things protect you, enable you to cope with enlightenment.

I leave you to your prescriptions. Clearly, no one will ever pry this gem from your hand. Enjoy (oh, wait - that's probably forbidden as one might lose control).
