Sometimes it has seemed to me that East and West cannot meet, and have not met,
EVER, not once. Nor CAN they, ever. They'll never meet. Just forget about it.

At least in the realm of Philosophy.

(1.) It appears to me that Western Philosophy describes what is noted WHEN THE
MIND IS *MOVING*;

(2.) And it appears to me that Eastern Philosophy (well, Buddhism!), describes
what is noted when the mind is *NOT* moving.

Bear with me, don't fly off the handle: I'm talking about PHILOSOPHY, here!
There is nectar here, should you detect it.

(Note to non-specialists: Some Buddhist schools describe the nature of
delusion, and some describe enlightenment; so, what I say just above is not
absolute. But the two poles, Yogacara and Madhyamika, both "recognize"
delusion and enlightenment, it's just that they charge themselves with
different tasks of *emphasis*. A nice and handy division of labor, all for our
benefit and appreciation).

Historical note: Our Sixth Ch'an Ancestor chastised his two students when they
argued about whether it was the wind that was moving, or the flag that was
moving (oy, which was it?!):

He told them, "It is your MIND that moves!"

PS and to all, a Good night. On the morrow, I'll say "G'day".
