hu mike... yes freemantle..amazing buildings...king's park...brilliant
i have a friend, kyoko late 40's who i met on a top end tour..she is japanese
married to an australian...been out here 20 years... she goes back to japan
every year to see family..lovely lass...graphic artist,,,
i have been to yangzhou..shanghai and nanking..
 48 i remember...one felt old then..but at 66 one feels young like a 21 year
old..but the mirror tells another story as does the body indeed.
.hating young people? huh?... yes the key to any mind altering drug is to
learn...if one can
..many do not.
..ageing..one is less inclined to alter one's state of mind.
..after all with the practise of zen..one can do it whenever... one must be
mindful, alert and forever adaptable...

i must say you hit the nail on the head why do youth listen to music and the
singing...what are they singing about?...but then you must ask yourself is this
mainstream crap or are you listening to the alternates..
. after all music too requires a bit of intelligent thoughts in the song
writing..those repetitive one liners..meaningless mumbo jumbo...????

what sort of "bad" language..a word is a word is a word...how young are these
people?.
..my daughter is 37 ..my son in law is 45..my son is 35..i know many folk of
that age ..are you referring to teenagers?..they are a breed apart from the
rest of the human race..fuelled on hormones and immortality..don't you
remember...one was always right those days!

 i use to teach teenagers..from 12 to 18..for 30 years..they come in all
shapes, sizes and colours...all different.
..i do not think things have changed that much.
..what gets me is how well behaved asian kiddies are to teachers..is that your
experience?
..many australian kids do not understand the meaning of education..it opens the
doors...
 tell me more sometime...
take it easy and enjoy your day zenfully
 cheerio for now

Hi Merle,

Ahh, Fremantle - home of the cappucino strip. My university is just outside
Freo, so spent many an afternoon debating and bouncing off the walls after 1
too many lattes. Yes, king's Park is an amazing feature to have in a city
centre. It's still big and wild enough to be a natural wonder compared to
Central Park, say, which strikes me as a bit too manicured (Although I'm sure
the wildlife inNY is far more dangerous than scorpions, Redback spiders and
snakes..).

Yes, I speak basic, conversational Japanese. You have to really if you want to
communicate with the locals who are famously shy and reserved (until they drink
a few glasses of Asahi/sake). I hope to go back soon than later. I also lived
in China for a while. Yangzhou is about halfway between Shanghai and Nanking
(Don't talk about liking Japan if you ever visit there!). I liked
the edginess of China compared to the safety and security of Japan). As for
learning the Chinese language - forget it! I couldn't get past the first hurdle
 - pronunciation. Loved teaching the kids there tho - as a whole they're much
better at picking up English than their Japanese peers.

Not early 40s - late 40s! 48 at the end of this month, actually. Just hitting
that age where the body starts showing the signs of the years: wearing reading
glasses, grey in the goatee, grunts and groans getting up from the
sofa,...hating young people. Still, wouldn't want to swap to go back to my 20s
and talk about... What the hell did I use to talk about?? Don't worry about the
drug thing. I'm not inclined to do anything more than the occasional spliff
whilst listening to music or shooting the breeze with friends. Still, I learnt
alot from my earlier LSD/mushroom/anything entheogenic years and would never
deny anyone else from experimenting with the
 substances that benefitted me.

Anyway, it's back to complaining how selfish and ungrateful young people are...
and why do they listen to music you can't hear what they're singing about...
and where are their manners? When I was young we wouldn't dream of using the
bad language they use....etc etc etc...

Mike
