hi joe.....

..brilliant..all that swirling and spinning.... great to observe... however one
spin and i'm dizzy... wonderful to hear of your experiences.
.. i practise tai chi these days...whence in china in 2005/06/08...the parks
and town squares in the early morning there were  groups of folks.."tai
chi'ing.."..
ballroom dancing in public is popular too.(.me... i have 2 left feet)
also went to a demonstration of kung fu.?..i'll forward some pics

 am fond of yoga ...

dancing in central park...how divine...beautiful to be young and fancy free...

my nerves are a bit rattle..the dentist says i have 4 mercury fillings... (
leads to brain damage first 7 years).
..the fillings are 20 and 15 years old...one side effect is damage to reflexes
me thinks" ah ha"..."that's why i cannot play competition tennis and spin in
circles?" :-

so all that attempting to reach nirvana...
 is merely an illusion
 meaning what?
meaning the cosmic joke is on us!

spinning weaving chanting ranting raving..round and round in a dervish dream

" her teeth.".her teeth"... reminds me of brother theodore....comedian extra
ordinary..take time out to check him on u tube

absurdity wins the day..merle

Thanks, Merle; good to hear from you.

When the dervishes perform/practice, it's just too dramatic, too
performance-oriented, too distant. But to participate in Zikhir yourself is
something else. That's what we did. And we had a slew of other practices,
too. It was quite a community, uptown at the Cathedral of Saint John the
Divine. Sufis dancing in the aisles of the Episcopalian cathedral, every
Wednesday night. We'd move a thousand chairs from the Crossing, the hundred
foot square at the intersection of the Apse and Transcept. And then put them
back, afterwards. ;-)
Lots of exercise, after all that exercise.

On Sunday mornings, we danced in Central Park. Forty years ago, really?
