Howdy, Merle,

I reply below in the order of some of the quotes from your post:
----------------------------------------------------------------

It's a good dictionary WORD: "empiricist".

You've got it: in your second sentence quoted below (starts even before
daybreak).

The moonlight of Wisdom (sentence 3, below).

We have companions on the path, if we see them.

The right teacher is the best one. If needed, you can make it right.

You will not have a funeral: your successors will; just try and stop them. ;-)

Ceremonies are good for something: You find this out in Zen Buddhist formal
practice with a teacher and a sangha. Ceremonies and ritual make visible the
Invisible. Even if you are not a visual person, you will appreciate this.

I think a marriage is not to be knotted to another person; it is to be one
person (at war with itself). Something about the symbolism of the wedding ring
shows this to me, in my way of thinking. Can't explain. There are no edges to
a torus, really. Now I want a donut: I'll MAKE some edges.

Sheng Yen was a Chan monk, so he wore the monastic traditional open sandal. I
said "to boot", and then just followed train-of-thought; did not mean to
de-rail, or talk just about footwear.

The Adidas SL-72 are a long favorite shoe; the training is just running. I am
the world's slowest runner. I do it for the exercise, and for sight-seeing.
It's for Chan sitting and yoga fitness, too. It is good for belly-breathing
(100% here for the past 45 years; good preparation for Tai Chi to have this
breathing habit, for health). I do it (the running) for training so that when
I climb mountains, I can climb for fun, not for the strain of it, and not to
have to return to base-camp as you write; returning to base-camp inconveniences
others.

Clothes?: Nudist Buddhist Baloonist Flutist Parachutist, here.
Maybe the rudest, crudest; but I mustn't brag. Now you know. ;-)
Don't tell?

Why else live in Arizona!

Let me say that living in AZ naturally confers a sense of Yuma.

(or requires it)

Fun!, Cous',
