"Church of the Universal Placebo" (CUP) has a certain cache. Let me think
about it.

We may be CACT(US), though. That's Ch'an Activity Center of Tucson (Universal
Sangha).

"Activity" because it's not all sitting, all the time. Sitting is just one
activity. And we may include "Engaged Buddhism" (as my shifu did), so Merle
can join, and head that committee.

"Ch'an", not Zen, as an echo and indication that it will foster mainly Sheng
Yen's teaching, but not his exclusively. Besides, ZACT(US) would sound silly:
we are not Zoroastrians.

"Tucson" because that's where we are to be Founded and registered as a
501(c)(3) Non-Profit Religious Educational Organization, under USA tax code.
But maybe we will spread to other parts of Arizona, the USA, the World, and
outward, upwards and onwards.

"Universal" because, again, the teaching will not feature just one line of
teaching, nor one transmission lineage. Its founder will not have
transmission, in any case, but is a mongrel (yet 95% Sheng Yen Breed).

By the way, WHICH drug companies make placebos for use in all the double-blind
drug trials? Are all placebos alike? (do all placebos act alike?). Must drug
companies TEST potential placebos for safety, before they are marketed?; and,
if tested in a double-blind study, must they compare the effects of the new
placebo against those of an established placebo? Are placebos patented? Are
placebos expensive? Are there "generic" placebos, and are these generic
placebos cheaper? Where can I get some?

PS Maybe any homeopathic remedy is a placebo; lots to choose from, then, and
readily available, and certainly never FDA tested. Say, did you hear the one
about the fellow who forgot to take his homeopathic medicine one day, and died
of an overdose?
