Edgar,

I was there a long time. ;-)

At Columbia, for an Engineering degree from 1970-1974; and took a Philosophy
degree at General Studies in 1977 and thought I would be a Philosopher. I met
Sheng Yen in 1979 at Union Theological Seminary in Feb., 1979, and that was the
end of my Western Philosophy career, especially following the first intensive
Ch'an retreat at Bodhi House on Long Island in May, 1979. I became an
Astronomer. Go figure!

Left for Chile in Nov., 1982, and came back in Jan. 1985, before going off to
grad school again, this time in Physics, out on the Island.

I have some of Da Liu's videotape movies of the Forms.

I am sure I did not break up your marriage. I would remember that. I think.
;-)

Do you know Paul Knopf? He lived across the street from me on 110th Street
(Cathedral Parkway) and became Da Liu's successor, more or less, and I think
still teaches Tai Chi at Riverside Church, in a studio on the 19th Floor in the
tower. I don't think he teaches at the Cathedral School where Da Liu taught,
nor at Teacher's College.

Da Liu lived from 1902-2000! A remarkable life.

He and I lived in the same bldg: 520 Cathedral Parkway (W. 110th St.). I was
in 4B, he was 7A. I used to clean his place, for private lessons, for a while.

Maybe we met somewhere, sometime, Edgar! Or, shall!

;-)

Cheers,

--Joe
