thank you anthony..maybe i have heard it but it left no impression on me...and
still holds no appeal...merle

fbMerle,

Looks like you have not heard the story of the Wild Fox Zen. I will present it
in a simple way. The famous Chinese monk Hyakujo (literally a hundred yard)
found an old man always present in his dharma talk. He curiously asked who he
was, and was replied that he was a fox, and had stayed that way for 500 years.
The reason why he reincarnated as a fox for so long was that he claimed that a
successful practitioner would have escaped the law of cause and effect. To
that, Hyakujo gave the old man a 'turning word' that successful practice will
not 'obscure the causative law. The old man was immediately liberated. After
the dharma talk that night, the sangha discovered a corpse of a wild fox, and
they buried him according to the sangha ritual. That is the story of Master
Hundred Yard and the Fox.

i do respect the laws of cause and effect anthony.

..why does that mean i am  must be a fox.?

some ancient law in china?

.. i am who i am... i follow my own path..steer my own ship... what do you do?

sometimes our destiny is shaped by circumstances beyond our control

 don't even go there anthony

..there is too much mental anguish to discuss the way of the world

Wolf,

In China (and Thailand), if you don't respect the rule of cause and effect, you
are destined to be a fox, which is borne out by the story of Hyukujo. I don't
know what becomes of you in Australia.

i don't follow all the rules anthony... you go as foxes.

..my daughter's 2 beautiful laying hens were slaughtered by a fox last night
..the red hen only laid her very first egg that day..( the grandson age 4 was
so happy to have the freshly laid egg for his breakfast)

.... we did not have foxes in australia..they were introduced no doubt by the
english toffs..for their fox hunting "bullshit"...

. i am a wolf and that is that.
..we all evolve anthony..you go for it..

...i remember back in the 1050's fox fur with the head attached were very
popular with toffy women to drape around their necks in winter to be so called
in the height of fashion.

..me i am the mongolian wolf...so that is that

wolf merle

Merle,

Forget a wolf. 'Fox' has a special meaning. Both Bill! and I agnored the cause
and effect law, so we reincarnated as foxes. He was there longer. Fortunately
Joshu gave him his book a Guide to Wild Fox Zen, so he was not bored. Again, I
was refused when I tried to borrow the book.

sign me up to his club.
