Welcome, Kate. Those are some good books (authors) you mention; and that's interesting work that you do. I think you're in a great city, too.
The Zen center there should be a good resource for you, and you for "it". The teacher, the other sangha members, the practices, the building, the setting, the smells (incense), and all the work that the practitioners do together, are all teachers, and great influences. We're not alone in this practice. The members here on this forum bring a lot of diverse backgrounds and foregrounds to the interchanges here, and I thank them all. I've come back here after about ten years not cruising any internet forums, and have been enjoying the group again since June this year. Greetings from the desert! I'm in southern Arizona, where we're finally getting some rain. Now I can add some green to my palette (learning to paint landscapes in oils). ;-) Wishing you good practice. --Joe > Kate Harper <harper.kate@...> wrote: > > Hi there! > > Just thought I'd introduce myself. > > I'm a 27-year-old journalist and website programmer (I actually work for > Yahoo!, haha...) from Toronto who's new to the group and to Buddhism.
