Glenn,
A Hua-Tou is "the head of a word".
This means, the very first sound or syllable of a word, or expression. The
"HEAD" of it.
Hua-tou practice is a cornerstone of Zen practice. As much or more so as/than
Koan practice.
So, for you, your new mantra can be made into a hua-tou: "It's...".
Just that: "It's...".
Better yet, would be the first letter of the first word, "i". But this is
pronounced "ih", not "Aye". So, when sitting, the operative word, or sound,
internally, or somewhere, would be "ih!". In a very STRONG way. May I
emphasize STRONG!!!??
Minute after minute, hour after hour (if it comes to this), "ih".
"ih".
This is one of life's greatest blessings, to practice in this way.
Appreciations!,
