All beliefs are self-serving. Those who believe themselves separate from
this, fear this. It seems preferable from the perspective of a self
believed separate to find ways to maintain itself - via some believed
protector/power/self-improvement process/etc.

Out of ignorance of original nature - grasping this - rejecting that.
The Three Poisons.

Truth expresses as change. Truth expresses as "Don't know". To realize
this, is to be this realization. Nothing in it for "me" beyond the
exploration, the experiencing, the realization of this as this. A sort
of downside to 'enlightenment' from an 'unenlightened' perspective.

Glimpses or even lasting recognition of 'no-self' may or may not make
this clearer. Some find such experiences unsettling, rejecting this or
getting stuck in thoughts of 'emptiness' (no mountain) rather than
realizing impermanence as the ground of 'suchness' (mountain again).

Nothing lacks, but no one believes this. This is simply realized to be
so, or not.

'Suchness' will always be harder to sell than fantasy, even though it's
free - and there's nothing else! All we can do is point this out, in a
very crowded marketplace where most people come to buy and sell.
