Joe, I must admit your paraphrasing of Jim's response has softened my heart a little. If those were really his motives then he did come to the right place, but his dilemma was not shared by the group so he didn't get the support he was looking for. I still think though that he did not want to listen and only wanted to talk.
I think he made the right decision in leaving the group.
