Yonyonson, "Yin Yoga" is a recent commercial development brought out by Mr. Paul Grilley, through his study in Japan with a Shinto Priest, Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama.
I do not think that Grilley was able to copyright or trade-mark the name, however. Grilley has a book to introduce it: Paul Grilley; YIN YOGA: A QUIET PRACTICE, 2002, White Cloud Press, Oregon, USA. There are also sets of DVDs available separately which show the practice and the teaching in yoga-class settings. And some others besides Grilley are also putting out such DVDs. The Buddhist Yoga that I teach was taught to me by my Ch'an teacher, Sheng Yen (1930-2009), who was a Ch'an monk. You can only learn it from one of Shih-fu's disciples. If you'd like to tell me where you are located, I could look for affiliate practice centers that may be near you, where you could visit in order to learn the exercises, prostrations, Yoga exercises, and self-massage, as well as the meditation practices if you like; it is all one big nice package. Or to find a center yourself, pls. look here: http://chancenter.org/cmc/links/ http://chancenter.org/cmc/links/2/ http://chancenter.org/cmc/links/3/ --Joe > yonyonson@... wrote: > > Joe, > > How does, or what does, Buddhist Yoga practice which supports our Chan > practice.
