Ok, I've tried to get you guys to watch this before with no luck BUT it's so
unbelievably good I've got to try again (for your sakes!). Merle, he was a
busker in Fremantle and I would've walked past him many times on my way to uni.
Bill! and Joe, if you like the guitar as much as you say you do, then watch
this and tell me to watch something better. Everyone else, watch/listen to a
man become one with his art - this IS ZEN IN ACTION.

Merle,

Ah, the Flexible Now. Thanks for being understanding and inclusive.

How about a track *relevant* to now? Thinking here not much beyond our
Election Day. Oh, and, OK, about 4 years onward, too, and wondering how it's
going to be.

This relates to Zen, because the political situation can effect our practice
environment.

So, we take you back to a release only thirty years ago, to "President Gas", by
the Psychedelic Furs. Nice album cover. It's a strong song. It has some
memorable, if strange, lines, and goes through interesting changes.

The tempo of this track is about twice as fast as the lazy, sleepy-headed stuff
that passes for pop music these days, called Hip Hop: neither hip, nor hoppy.
And this track has no x-rated lyrics nor misogyny nor gratuitous filthy
language. Ah, the good-old days, NOW revisited.

I think these guys are more into something besides psychedelia, but I'm not
sure what. It's not Punk, really, and it's not latter-day Disco; so, I don't
know. I was already tuned-out of the pop music scene pretty much when this was
new:
