Joe, No, I quit my research job when I went to Japan in 2004 to teach. I came back to Wales this time last year, but have been basically idling my time away. I'm back off to Japan this Tuesday for 6 weeks and then I'm going to Adelaide/Perth for a further year or 2. I'll probably end up back in Japan in a couple of years because my girlfriend is Japanese and we'll probably get married sometime this year. I'm (only..) 48, so I've still got a few more years left in me before retirement. I'm not a career or materially orientated kinda person so no concrete plans for the mid to long-term future. Backpacking probably.
