Yes, but not to people, animals, or inanimate objects.
To Inane objects, yes.
If "meeting" her is your criterion for "knowing", then please don't ignorantly
defend, and elevate, and worship her! It's blind faith, and, when applied to
flesh-and-blood, it's the worst kind.
It's just the modern disease, there, Merle. And called "Marketing".
Our practice can steer us clear of that, and of ignorant worship.
When it comes to journalism and biographies, get the information and views from
several sources, friends and critics. You'll have a fuller picture.
This advice applies when shopping for a Zen teacher, or sangha, too. It is
"due-diligence"! And use your own nose when you are there, surely.
See May Pang's story in her own words; her words ring true. And Al Goldman's
bio of Lennon, which is very thorough ...if you can stand it, applied to his
given subject(s).
