Bill!,

To be honest (is there any other way?), I have no problem
with expressing my path as a spiritual path. I'd even go so far as to say Zen
is a mystical path. When we transcend the self - body and mind drop away -
we're 'in a place' that the mystics would recognise. I get what you're saying -
there is no soul or spirit as a thing - but it's so beyond every day life
(especially if we're following a moral and compassionate practice) that
'spiritual' captures the difference quite well (I appreciate my Vipassana
influences this perspective, but I've come across many Zen teachers who
describe their practice as a spiritual
practice).

Mike

Sent from Yahoo! Mail for iPhone
