Vipassana is a school and tradition of practice;  it's more closely aligned 
with original Buddhist teachings, and ways.

Zazen is a practice of the Zen schools.

Shikantaza is a practice of the Soto lineage of Zen.

PS  I've seen the Dalai Lama 3 times in New York City; he may be in his "last 
days", so it would be good to see him if you have the chance.  I find him a 
kind heart and clear-spoken.
