Meryl, I've always found it hard to do sitting meditation. Did do
self-hypnosis for a while and in one session found the greatest bliss I've ever
felt which seemed a shedding of ego. Don't do self-hypnosis anymore either
because the sessions take 40 minutes and it's hard to fine the 40 minutes each
day. I used guided meditation tapes by Steven Gurgevich. Krishnamurti's ideas
appeal to me because you have a meditative attitude throughout the day. But
it's hard to stay in that attitude because thought keeps intruding and it's
hard to keep doing things that are hard, but I did fine peace in the intervals
without thought. So I thought to myself what I need is inspiration, a sort of
support group, to keep working on having a meditative attitude. That was part
of my motivation for joining this group, too. I think this is going to be the
commitment of my golden years - my dedication to what I call the New Paradigm
expressed in the thought of Krishnamurti and David Bohm. Thought as expressed
in my book, The Search For Being, has been very important to me, so trying to
reorient to awaring will be a stretch. I think this will be a process and,
perhaps, I will try sitting meditation at some point. What I do may even
evolve from this list.
